DANKA Newsletter - The Observer

Dear Lahore Culture Observers,

Our imaginary friend Prof. Dr. Dr. Hafeez Khan is observing culture in Lahore. He is a scholar from Oxford and wears a Dhoti. On his motorbike he drives to  GCU to hold a lecture on the societies of Lahore, the cultures and the peoples, everything in plural.

"We observe different cultural classes and peoples looking up or down on each other. One class for example is the Punjabi Card Game culture. People playing  Bhabi Tullah are classified as low. People who play Chess are more up, Mini-Golfers even more and XL-Golfers top.
We can observe these classes in every cultural field. L ook at stage plays vs. English drama, look at dance events in Hiranmandi vs. dance at a big
international festival, tabla concerts in the old city or  at the Gymkhana Club. Classes are observed to be classified in respect to the colour of the artist, the premises of the event, the colour of the audience or  the sponsors. We observe classes in our own house, our own family, outside and everywhere. Observation is the auntie of knowledge."

Observe your cultures,

Your Danka Team
